Some of us chose it, some were pulled into it, and some feel trapped by the golden handcuffs - the money's good, but the cost is high. We live the ups and downs in a way few understand. We welcome babies while the one we love is thousands of kilometres away.
We miss milestones. We readjust, over and over.
FIFO life can be rewarding - but it can also be isolating, exhausting, and heavy on your mental health, your relationships, and the connection you're holding together across distance.
The reality? Depression and anxiety don't wait for your days off. Communication breakdowns happen when you need connection most. Intimacy fades when you're apart more than together. Parenting alone for weeks at a time leaves both partners exhausted. And the loneliness - whether you're on site or at home - can be crushing.
That's why Life Beyond the Roster exists.

To give FIFO workers, partners and families, real conversation - the kind that helps you:
For every roster. For every return. For every one of us.
→ For those out there working in it.
→ For those holding the home front.
One straightforward conversation can bring relief: a fresh perspective, and the sense that you're not carrying it all by yourself.

FIFO life takes its toll on mental health, relationships, sleep, and your sense of self. Whether you're on-site dealing with isolation and burnout, or at home managing everything alone while battling partner burnout - this space is here to help you reconnect, reset, and feel like you again. You adapt. You cope. But sometimes, even the strongest people feel:
You're not broken. You're human - living within a system that demands resilience but rarely teaches how to build it.
You don't have to figure it out alone.

This is for workers who know the cycle all too well, those who've done a few swings, and those navigating the uncertainty of being stood down or let go. Even if you're thinking about giving it a go - or wondering if it's time to step away.
Navigate possible strain on relationships, and the readjustment that comes with shifting between site and home. Research shows FIFO workers move through predictable emotional patterns with each roster cycle - understanding these patterns changes how you experience the whole swing, and life.
Whether you're struggling with isolation on site, worried about missing your children's milestones, or finding it hard to switch off when you get home - I walk beside you.
I've sat where you're sitting. On the edge, wondering if there was another way. I found it - and now I help those who are still in it, find theirs.

Coming back together after a swing shouldn’t feel hard - but sometimes it is. Two rhythms, two worlds, and two versions of “home” trying to line up again.
It’s the balance between independence and togetherness
It's sharing the load - It's making room for actual rest.
It’s riding the emotional cycle - yours, your partners, and maybe kids.
Together, we get you steadier in it. So home feels like home, not another adjustment.
If you’re carrying most things solo, feeling the mental load, or finding it tough to reconnect when they return - this is for you too.
If you’re the one holding things steady at home - this space is here for you.

FIFO life stretches you in ways a lot of people don’t understand. So, let’s focus on what actually works: clear tools, simple shifts and support that fits your life. My approach brings together everything I’ve lived, learned and shared: real conversation, grounded tools, practical strategies that actually fit the FIFO lifestyle.

Coming back together after time apart isn't always smooth - there's relief, readjustment, and the work of fitting two worlds back together.
Let's talk about:
* Noticing and reclaiming the moments that get missed.
* The difference between being in/and having a relationship.
* Understanding the emotional patterns of the FIFO cycle - and managing them
Change doesn’t need to be big or dramatic; small, steady shifts create the strongest foundations and make reconnection easier - for everyone.

FIFO life doesn't have to mean running on empty. The goal isn't just getting through each swing - it's finding a rhythm that works for you.
Here's what can change:
✓ Stop surviving - start thriving
✓ Be heard - and actually hear each other
✓ Turn R&R into reconnection, not just recovery
✓ Take back your life from the roster
It's not about perfection - it's about thriving in both worlds, even when the days feel long and the distance feels longer.

FIFO/DIDO life has its own rhythm - time apart, quick turnarounds, and constant readjustment. My work meets you where you are, with a focus on steadiness, self-awareness, and practical strategies that fit your reality.
Sessions are client-led and grounded in trauma-informed practice. Sometimes it's a quiet conversation; other times, it's about simple techniques to ease stress or rebuild connection. You'll walk away with practical tools you can use straight away - not theory, but real shifts you'll feel day to day.
This is your space. Confidential, no pressure - just honest conversation about what's working, what's not, and where you want to go from here.

Small Steps → Big Shifts. Start Here
It's a FREE, one-hour session - led by you. You talk; I listen. This is your space to explore what's working, what's wearing thin, and where you're feeling stretched or stuck in FIFO life.
I may; ask a question, offer a brief reflection or technique, if it feels helpful but my main aim is simple - You leave feeling heard, clear on what matters most to you right now, and knowing you have support.
You'll have space to reflect and decide your next step, at your pace, on your terms - whatever that looks like for you.
If exploring working together feels right after our chat. We can talk about what that looks like for you. If not, that's completely okay too.

Through our work together, you'll experience:
For more than 20 years, FIFO life has been my world - as a partner, parent, and eventually a FIFO worker myself.
I've lived the long swings, the missed milestones, and the 'golden handcuffs'—good pay with a hidden cost. I know the exhaustion, the emotional airport goodbyes, and that strange mix of relief and disconnection when someone you love finally walks back through the door.
Some of us choose and love this life; others stay because leaving feels too hard.
Either way, I'm here to help you thrive—not just survive.

I am certified coach and Breathwork practitioner with 13+ years in training, learning & development, and community health. I have developed FIFO readiness programs to help people understand the life before stepping into it and facilitated support groups for FIFO partners living it. I am committed to ongoing professional development and have delivered evidence-based training in communication, parenting, and personal development.
My approach is trauma-informed and practical - utilising Breathwork, Internal Family Systems (IFS), emotional intelligence, and attachment theory concepts to help you regulate stress, reconnect with yourself, and navigate the emotional patterns of FIFO life. All grounded in a background in counselling and psychological studies.

If you're feeling stretched thin, disconnected, or running on autopilot - that's your cue. FIFO/DIDO life will always have its challenges, but you don't have to push through alone.
Reset. Realign. Return.
- Days, Nights, Home.
- Small Steps. Steady Bonds.

Do you believe stress, anxiety and isolation are just part of FIFO life?
Feeling flat, disconnected, anxious, struggling with mood swings or depression isn’t "normal" - it's common, but it doesn't have to be your reality.
Mental health challenges in FIFO workers and partners are higher than the general population, but that doesn't mean you just "get used to it." FIFO life can feel balanced, connected, and mentally healthy with the right support and strategies.
Accepting psychological distress as normal means living below your potential and missing out on calm, connection, and clarity. You can't change the roster - but you can change how you move through it.
Learn how to manage your mental health, strengthen communication, and create steadiness and connection that last longer than your next swing.
Good news: you don't need to "talk about your feelings" to thrive.
The emotional ups and downs aren't random, and they're not a sign of weakness. Research* shows FIFO/DIDO workers and families move through predictable emotional patterns with each roster cycle—from the countdown before departure to the readjustment after return.
When you understand the pattern, you stop thinking something's wrong with you. It's not about unpacking feelings—it's about recognizing what's happening and knowing what helps.
Without this awareness, you're left thinking you should just "tough it out." That's when holding things in leaves you exhausted, irritable, or disconnected from the people you care about.
You're not broken—you're in a cycle. And once you see it, you can navigate it.
That's what we work on together.

You can’t change anything - so why bother, right?
You're right: you often can't change swings, shifts, or R&R time. But here's what you can change: how you experience it.
The roster may stay the same - but small shifts in managing departures, isolation, and reconnection, can change everything about how these feel.
Thinking "nothing will help" keeps you stuck - enduring FIFO instead of living it. Running on empty, exhausted, counting down days and waiting for the next swing to somehow be different! Or worse, giving up…
You can't change the roster, but you can change how you move through it.
To thrive – not just survive!
Let's explore how to shift your swings.
Do you ever feel like you’re finding FIFO life harder than everyone else seems to?
You’re not imagining it - most people just don’t talk about the tough parts, even when they’re struggling too.
It’s easy to think you ‘should’ be coping better, but comparing yourself only adds silent stress and self-judgment.
You’re not falling short - you’re simply ready for something better.
Coping isn’t the goal - living well is.
You deserve support without needing to “earn” it by holding everything together first.
Learn small, practical shifts that help you feel capable, calm, and connected again.
Feel like you can't stop - or everything will fall apart?
You're holding it all together, and you're doing it well. You get that you can't keep doing this - you’re running on fumes. You know you need to refill your own tank.
But it doesn't happen—something always seems more important.
Taking time for yourself seems selfish - not what you do.
Here's the truth: a few minutes to breathe and reset isn't indulgence; it means you stay strong enough to keep showing up.
Pushing through non-stop can drain your energy, build resentment, and create distance from the people you're working so hard to care for. And one day, you wake up exhausted and wondering where you went.
You're not meant to be ‘everyone’s’ everything. You can care for others, and still care for yourself - in fact, you have to.
Let's create space for you to breathe again.
